Rawa
Hello!
I am Karolina
My name is Karolina Rawa and I am delighted to introduce myself as a fresh graduate of Northampton University with First Class Honours in BSc Architectural Technology. During my studies I developed the skills in technical drawing, detailing, 3D modelling and project management. I am currently the Chair of the AspirATion- Central Region, England at the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). I enjoy working with different shapes and masses and challenge myself to achieve this through 3D modelling. My hobby is 3D printing which helps visualise the concept.

Year 3- Final Major Project
Programs used: Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, Photoshop, InDesign, Lumion
The aim of this project was to create a 4-storey sustainable development, which will further enhance the students and staff experience at the Northampton University. The Community Hub is located in the heart of Waterside Campus. The shape of the building was inspired by the structure of a natural bee hive which resulted in a hexagon pattern (minimal framing vs maximised area to provide natural lighting with self-holding light steel structure) and open plan of indoor space to allow for better social engagement (Community Hub). To highlight the name of Waterside Campus, the building is finished in the colour blue with a wavey touch.

Waterloo House
Year 2- Design Crit
Programs used: Revit, AutoCAD, Lumion
This project involved the refurbishment of the Waterloo House located in the centre of Northampton Town to a new modern mixed-used scheme. The design consisted of two floors accommodating local business (Ground Floor and First Floor) and 2 Floors of residential apartments (third and fourth floor) with a Roof Garden Bar overlooking the Market Square. The aim was to create a vibrant, modern looking building which stands out through shape but also complements the surroundings through reflection. The shape, glass and Sun’s position combined together results in changing building colour throughout the day.
Cedars Farm
Year 2- Design Crit
Programs used: Revit, AutoCAD, Lumion
The Cedars Farm Development (Little Brington, Northamptonshire) is a multi-plot project which involved a barn conversion (Plot 1-3) and new build (Plot 4 and 5) which has been randomly assigned to each student. My task was to focus on Plot 4 and deliver technical drawings and 3d visualisations. Plot 4 is a 2- storey, detached 3-bedroom house with a double garage.
